It's difficult to get outside at the minute because even the 4G pitches are covered in snow and ice. We'll make it work. How much can a change be good to mix things up? Our lads aren't precious anyway. That's our DNA as a club and we have to adapt and make the best of what we've got. That's what we are all about. If the weather is a bit tricky, generally we just get on with it. How good was Tuesday as a performance (4-0 win over Chelsea Under-21s), bouncing back from Saturday and can you view that as a blip yet? I think you'll get the answer to that in a couple of weeks. When you can step back and look at the bigger picture, you'll be able to tell if it's a blip or not. It was one defeat in six, or one in seven now. It was a typical derby and a scrappy game.
I've been involved in dozens of those where it is difficult for it to become a free flowing game and for teams to reach their heights. When you do get a day like that, you just have to see it out and not get done on a set play. Worse case scenario, leave with a draw, or nick it off a set play. That puts a completely different slant on the whole afternoon. That was the big takeaway: if you are not going to hit your heights, be dogged, be resilient, especially on something like a set play, and make sure you see out the game.
Not long after Rob Street's header bounced off the top of the crossbar from Elliott Bennett's cross. Argyle's best first-half chance came when Whittaker flashed a shot across the face of goal from Finn Azaz's 19th-minute corner. Shrewsbury deservedly got the breakthrough in the 30th minute when a slick passing move enabled Christian Saydee to put Shipley in on goal and he slotted home past Michael Cooper. Argyle restored parity after 70 minutes following superb work by homegrown midfielder Adam Randell.
There is always a way, isn't there. How was your birthday and did the cake taste sweeter after Tuesday's result? Yes, it was all right - pretty relaxed. A bit of mini golf, getting beaten by a seven-year-old! A bit of food, cake and the World Cup semi-final, so not a bad birthday. Cheltenham Town head coach Wade Elliott (Image: PA Images) Do you expect it to be a relatively quiet January window after such a busy summer? Yes, I don't think we'll do loads. We don't need to do loads. There are a couple of different characteristics we want to add to the squad.
You want that competition all over the pitch. How much does that competition drive people to want to keep their shirts? The players are self-motivated anyway. I don't know if they need additional motivation or pushing, but it does help when it's getting difficult to pick a bench, let alone a team a few weeks ago. We are hoping that fairly soon we'll have Will Ferry and TP (Taylor Perry) to add back into that and players probably do realise they have to maintain a level of performance, otherwise there are really good people champing at the bit to come in.

It ended up being quite a big summer for one reason or another, because there was a big churn. We have done a lot of work with that group now and feel we are starting to see the progress. Off the back of that work done in the summer and up to this point, we don't need to do loads and loads. It's just a little bit of tweaking and adding one or two different attributes to the squad. How is the back after the snow shovelling - has it recovered? Not really, it's pretty sore! You don't realise how much it takes it out of you, so I have to reiterate how grateful we are to everybody who turned out at the stadium on Tuesday. Until you are out there shovelling yourself you don't quite realise because it looks quite easy.

You might think that is lip service, but genuinely not. They were very good second half against Everton. They were really good against Shrewsbury, but came out the wrong side and they played well against Wycombe as well. I know Mark (Kennedy) a little bit and he's a really good coach. He has gone in there, had a look at what he's got, found a system and a way of playing that suits his personnel. They are really resilient and hard to break down. They have good threats on the counter attack and they don't give up a lot of chances. We are well aware of what their threats are and it'll be a tough game. Has Tuesday's performance added to some of your selection options? You want people to put themselves in the conversation and it's been difficult to pick the three centre-halves because whenever Rags (Charlie Raglan) has come in, he's been excellent.

When it comes around we'll look forward to it, but plenty of games before then. Did Ryan Jackson pick up an injury in the warm-up at Forest Green and how is he? Yes, he came in about 20 minutes before kick-off after feeling something in his groin, so we actually changed the bench 15 or 20 minutes before the game, which wasn't ideal. We are hoping he trains on Friday, having followed all his protocol. He has done high speed running, twisting and turning, ball striking and all the rest of it, so hopefully he gets through training and he'll be fine for Saturday. How hard is it to find somewhere to train indoors, having already used the artificial pitch at Cleeve in recent weeks? We are going to Cirencester Town, which is a little bit of a schlep, but it is difficult to get outdoors.

Sheffield Wednesday v Cheltenham RECAP: Robins well beaten by OwlsVideo LoadingVideo UnavailableCheltenham Town were beaten 3-0 at Sheffield Wednesday, conceding one early on and then two in the closing stages at Hillsborough. The Robins fell behind inside three minutes when Josh Windass converted a free-kick from 20 yards. Wade Elliott's side did have chances of their own, with George Lloyd, Liam Sercombe and Christian Norton all close to a leveller. But Wednesday always looked dangerous going forward and they hit the woodwork through Lee Gregory before half-time.
Wade Elliott ahead of Lincoln City at homeWhat chance of the game being on? You are asking the wrong person. You probably need to speak to the ground staff. We'll carry on as normal and prep as you'd expect for the game to be on. How is prep being affected by the weather? We thought we might be able to get on the grass this morning if we cleared the snow, but we are working around it. We were indoors on Thursday, we have a facility for Friday.
The training pitch is completely frozen and the staff were clearing it at 8. 30am, hoping the snow might have insulated it and we might have some grass to train on. We have been up to Bishop's Cleeve this morning to double check whether we could get on there, but that's iced over. We have used Leisure@, but we want a different surface, with space to do different stuff, so we'll utilise Cirencester.

Outstanding midfield playmaker Barry Bannan thumped in the Owls' second of the afternoon in the 83rd minute, giving the overworked Luke Southwood no chance. Is everyone else okay? Yes, everyone is fine and got through midweek. What are your thoughts on the EFL Trophy quarter-final draw against Salford City or Port Vale at home? It's not regionalised any more, so we could have ended up getting Accrington or Salford away, which would have been a long trip. It's in the second week of January, so there is a lot of football between now and then, before we start turning our attention to that, but it's exciting.

Is that an experience thing as much as anything and part of the learning that players have to go through? You would hope they are getting better for every experience. It'll be the first time a few of them have played in a derby. I know it sounds silly, but it'll be the first time some of them have played in a game where there was umming and ahhing about whether it was going to be on or off, or the conditions were a bit different to what they are used to. They'll be better and more rounded for it, I would hope. What do you make of Lincoln City's form? They won on Tuesday evening and I think they've been good.
