The Grimsby defence failed to deal with a free kick into the box, with the ball eventually dropping to Biggins who sent a bullet of a shot into the top corner from 20 yards. The home crowd was buoyed by the return from injury of forward McAtee just after the hour mark. But Rovers sucked the atmosphere out of Blundell Park two minutes later as Miller grabbed a third. Knoyle carried the ball superbly and slid a pass into the box which Miller collected and slotted a shot under goalkeeper Crocombe. Miller was on the hunt for a hat trick and will have been disappointed to scuff a shot from close range after a driven ball into the box from Knoyle.
The hosts did not threaten the Rovers goal in the first quarter hour, before Harry Clifton saw a first time effort deflect wide from 20 yards. Knoyle was a major threat for Rovers down the right and embarked on a mazy run into the box before seeing a low drive blocked out for a corner. There was a scare for Rovers midway through the half when Clifton was played clean through as Grimsby broke but Jonathan Mitchell closed him down superbly and blocked the shot just inside the box.
Substitution, Rochdale. Rayhaan Tulloch replaces Femi Seriki. Ethan Ebanks-Landell replaces Jimmy McNulty. Attempt blocked. Reo Griffiths (Doncaster Rovers) left footed shot from the right side of the box is blocked. Assisted by James Maxwell. Corner, Doncaster Rovers. Conceded by Jimmy McNulty. Foul by Jimmy Keohane (Rochdale). Reo Griffiths (Doncaster Rovers) wins a free kick in the defensive half. Conceded by Ro-Shaun Williams.
From that point onwards Walsall took control and in the 71st minute they doubled their lead. A mistake invited Danny Johnson to go one-on-one with Mitchell and the Saddlers’ top-scorer went round the keeper to double the visitors’ lead. Their second goal brought about Danny Schofield’s first change of the evening with Kyle Hurst replacing Close. Jon Taylor and Kieran Agard quickly followed off the bench at the expense of James Maxwell and Woltman.

Doncaster Rovers vs Walsall on 02 Dec 22 - Match CentreTwo second-half goals from Walsall sent Rovers to defeat on Friday night at the Eco-Power Stadium. Tom Knowles and Danny Johnson both found the net to hand the Saddlers all three points. Rovers returned to home soil for the first time in a month looking to bounce back from the disappointing 3-0 defeat to Colchester United two weeks ago in Sky Bet League Two. Rovers made three changes to the side that lost to Colchester with Adam Clayton returning to the starting XI and taking the captain’s armband.
Rochdale 1-2 Doncaster RoversGeorge Miller scored the winning goal as Doncaster beat struggling Rochdale at the Crown Oil Arena. Femi Seriki denied the visitors in the second minute, sliding in to block Miller's shot when a long punt downfield had sent him racing through on goal. Minutes later, Dale goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell made a complete hash of a clearance, leaving Miller with an open goal 20 yards out. The striker snatched at the chance, however, missing the gaping target. Rovers took the lead in the 38th minute when Kyle Knoyle advanced down the right and squared for Kieran Agard, who found the bottom corner of the net from 12 yards.
Grimsby Town vs Doncaster Rovers on 12 Nov 22 - Match CentreRovers made it back-to-back wins in Sky Bet League Two with a comfortable triumph at Grimsby Town. George Miller scored twice, either side of a Harrison Biggins stunner, as head coach Danny Schofield collected the first away victory of his tenure. Substitute John McAtee pulled a goal back for Grimsby ten minutes from time but Rovers were deserved winners at Blundell Park. Schofield reverted back to the same starting XI that began the previous league game against Gillingham two weeks earlier with Tom Anderson returning to the side after a brief injury lay-off. Rovers were on the front foot from the opening whistle with a high-energy start to the game.
But the home side hit back on 44 minutes when Liam Kelly's cross from the left was glanced beyond Johnny Mitchell by Scott Quigley. Rochdale went close in the 68th minute when Abraham Odoh met Seriki's cross but could not generate sufficient power in his header and within a minute Rovers had regained the lead. Knoyle's run into the area ended with a pass to Miller and he slipped the ball through O'Donnell's legs. Match report supplied by PA Media. Grimsby grew into the game but found Rovers difficult to break down despite some promising play. Miller went close to adding a second before the break when he turned onto a James Maxwell pass and curled for the far top corner, only to see the ball fly over. And Luke Molyneux drew a save from Crocombe with a low drive in the final act of the first half. The lead was extended six minutes into the second half with a special strike from Biggins.
Tommy Rowe returned from his injury to slot into the backline with Tom Anderson and Ro-Shaun Williams while Max Woltman and Harrison Biggins supported George Miller up top. The match started off as a cagey affair with both sides exchanging possession in the middle of the pitch and having no exposure on either goal. From the 20-minute mark Rovers had an impressive 10 minute spell where they retained the ball well and got into advanced positions but struggled to force Owen Evans into any saves. Only one Walsall player caused Rovers any real problems and that was frontman Tom Knowles.
Kyle Knoyle pushed forward after a slick passing move and drilled the ball across goal but it was out of reach of team mates. Miller drew the first save of the game from Grimsby keeper Max Crocombe four minutes in when he met a cross from Knoyle at the near post with a header which was parried away. And Rovers were ahead after just six minutes. Miller brought down the ball on half way and carried it into the box before switching play across to the lively Knoyle. The full back drilled across the face of goal where Miller was placed to tap home from close range. Rovers continued to have the better of attacking play and Harrison Biggins fired over from 20 yards after receiving a cutback from Ben Close.
