Managerial changes for Sheffield United's upcoming opponents Wigan and QPRSheffield United will come up against two teams over the festive period who have been subject to managerial change. Wigan, who entertain the Blades on Monday, December 19, have appointed Kolo Toure. The former Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool and Celtic defender has taken up his first post as manager of the Latics, who sacked Leam Richardson at the beginning of the month. Toure's first home game in charge will be against Paul Heckingbottom's Sheffield United. However, former Blades striker James Beattie will not be in the dugout alongside Toure, having left the club following his arrival. In a statement issued yesterday, Wigan said: "The Club & Board would like to thank James for his efforts during his time here, and for being instrumental in the Club’s promotion last season.
It will be the newly-appointed Wigan boss's first home game in charge of the Latics and the TV cameras will also be in attendance. Nothing interesting and possibly upsets to watch there. Chesterfield Vs West Brom? Coventry Vs Wrexham? Dag&Red/Gillingham Vs Leicester? 3 far more interesting ties which should be put on TV @spireite4: Why no non league teams, that’s what the third round of the FA Cup is all about @ChesterfieldFC @SpireiteAlex: Tbf why have Chesterfield vs West Brom when you can have Cardiff vs Leeds.
Obviously… @Syperhanic: Not a single non-league team 👏 @dragon35666: No live for Chesterfield at home? @stevvy1986: Not Man Utd v Everton or Liverpool v Wolves. Neither of those ties appeal to me at all. Would’ve rather seen Dag&Red/Gillingham v Leicester or Chesterfield v West Brom. ITV were always gonna pick Man Utd and Liverpool though for increased ad revenue reasons @daniel_tortoise: Joke TV picks as usual, as always happens once the Premier League clubs come in. @BIGC1236: Real spirit of the FA Cup there… well done 🙃 @marting1954: Definitely not any of the 1st four – boring selections. Maybe Oxford v Arsenal worth staying in for on Monday night.
